Nearly 4,000 babies die every year suddenly. Accidental suffocation in bed is a leading cause. The academy of pediatrics has been promoting safe sleep habits. Some practices are getting better. 55% of babies are put in bed with soft blankets or comforters. That is dangerous. Teen moms and babies who sleep are their parents are at the greatest risk. Everyone thinks they're doing the best they can and they're doing the right thing and they hear something like this. This was surprise you? It does. As a pediatrician, I talk to all new parents about how the pout their babies down T. I focus on putting the baby on the back to sleep.
