It is always great to have sherri shepherd here. She's the co-host, of course, of "the view." The author of "plan d. Now lose weight and beat diabetes." The book is out in paperback. Sherri is here to share the 411. I was 197 pounds when i started "the view." You said you attribute diabetes for you getting in shape. God bless the church ladies saying I will pray to god to take that away. I said, no, don't do that. It makes me want to be around for my son, it gets me exercising. I was really in the prime when i had him. Oh. That's my baby. I can't believe he's 8 years old. That's your motivation? It is. I lost my mom at age 41. I look at that boy and I say, i may mama did to me. I do want my foot or that cheesecake. I say that to myself. I ask people, who needs you to be here? So I am feeling good. I say, every day, kicking diabetes in the butt. You're just radiating joy. How do you keep that is this because a lot of people can drop weight and get in shape. But it's hard, it's hard to maintain it. I say stop overwhelming yourself. You have to do one small thing at a time. Small changes, you look up and there's big results. You want to start drinking water. Break it down. Don't go, I'm going to drink a jug. Eight ounces when you get up, eight ounces at lunch. Try the walk instead of taking the escalator. Go the park with your kids. Do lunges doing laundry. Do it on top. That burns a lot of calorie. I'm married. But this is not the view, this is "good morning america." George stephanopoulos, you know a lot about that. Am I going to be able to come back on the show? Hey, robin. Moving on now. To nutrition. You see george grinning. I know. But nutrition is so key as part of the getting in shape. We have foods. A lot of times, we think we're doing the right thing. We, we do. But you have to have healthy alternatives. Try something differently. Let's get up and move. They're going to move the tables together. Look at this. Karnts, tell us what you -- thumbs up or down. I say you have, to if you're diabetic, you have to watch carrots. They're full of sugar. Pest your blood sugar. I like to have broccoli and cauliflower with hum mumus. Put it in a wok with a little oil. Beets are great for you. I know you don't -- they have a lot of fiber. Six grams of sugar in a cup. Test your blood sugar. I love me some salad. Oh, my gosh. Some balsamic vinaigrette with peppers. Arugula. So good. We know that canned fruit -- oh, my gosh. Give me insulin right now. Too much sugar. Look at this. Natural fruits. The canned fruit, too much sugar. People need to know. You don't have to deprive yourself. No. You can have so much. And moderation. Protein. Protein. In the morning, eat an egg. It makes you feel better. Look at this. And salmon, I love it. Put the fried food down. Look at the salmon, grilled chicken. Lemons over it. Look at the variety. String cheese. People think it's bad for you. It's great as a snack. I like apples with natural peanut butter. That's good when you dip the apple in the peanut butter. Popcorn, yea? Nay? Bring popcorn to the movies. Plain popcorn. G guacamole, kale chips. Edamame. Feeling good. I don't know how george feels about you. I love you. George feels good.
