That could be dangerous. Thanks very much. To a wild shootout in new York City in broad daylight. Two U.S. Marshals and one NYPD officer wounded in the firefight that left a fugitive dead. ABC's Mara schiavocampo has the latest. Reporter: This morning, two federal marshals and one new York City police officer are recovering after a gun battle in broad daylight. The scene was utter chaos. Just turned around and there were cop cars coming from every direction. Reporter: It happened at a tobacco shop in New York's greenwich village as they tried to arrest this man, Charles mozdir accused of molesting a child. The officers returned fire. Reporter: The suspect was killed while the officers suffered nonlife-threatening injuries. This vest likely saving a life. As you can see there was an entrance just to the left of the vest. Reporter: Mozdir, a former wedding photographer was wanted in California after not showing up for his arraignment. He had been on the run for two years and had been working at this tobacco shop. We executed a search warrant at his residence and it appeared he had left in a hurry. Reporter: He was finally spotted thanks to a television show. We all felt that he had a secret life. Reporter: Cnn's program "The hunt" hosted by John Walsh. Charles mozdir did a great job and spent his whole life doing this great job. You know what his great job was? Hiding from everybody what he really was. Reporter: The episode first aired last week and then reran Sunday. Authorities saying a woman called after seeing the broadcast giving them mozdir's cell phone which they traced. This is the guy that was hiding in plain sight. Just give us the one tip and that one tip may save somebody's life. Officials say mozdir was licensed to carry a handgun in California but that's not the weapon that was used in the shootout. The parents of the victim say they are relieved now that they don't have to live in fear anymore and as for those injured officers they're in stable condition and they are expected, thankfully, to make a full recovery from that. Boy. Such a busy area too.
