We're going to turn to that deadly shooting in Texas back in the news tonight, the sheriff's deputy killed in cold blood after filling up his patrol car at that gas station. The suspect althdly unloading 15 rounds that night and this evening a chilling new claim, was the veteran officer a target simply because he was wearing a police uniform. ABC's Matt Gutman in Texas. Reporter: An alleged assassin jangled into court today. Shannon miles accused of murdering Darren Goforth late Friday. Would you call this an assassination? Yes. Reporter: Prosecutors say the 30-year-old miles stalked Goforth at this gas station. Then he executed him. Officer down. Life flight on route. Reporter: Eye witnesses saw his pick-up. Police tracking down the make and model. Door knocking every house until they came upon his house. They asked him if he had any guns. He said he had two, a nine millimeter pistol that he had recently gotten rid of and a 40 caliber gun. Reporter: The prosecution is asserting that miles' gun was the same used to murder Goforth. The sheriff suggesting his uniform could have made him a target. We've heard black lives matter, all lives matter. Cops lives matter, too. The responsibility for this murder lies with Shannon miles. Reporter: Miles lived less than half a mile from this growing memorial. Tonight he's in lockup and despite hours of police interrogation, his client hasn't con tessed.
