Transcript for Donald Trump Pays Surprise Visit to Sept. 11 Museum
We want to turn to the republicans now. Donald Trump in New York today, also, and he made a surprise campaign stop at the site of the 9/11 memorial. His wife Melania right there with him. ABC's David Wright is in Colorado tonight where the fight for delegates is in overdrive. Reporter: Today in lower Manhattan, Donald Trump showed up at the 9/11 memorial. No TV cameras allowed inside. But surprised tourists snapped pictures of the brash billionaire and his wife. Trump left after half an hour. For once, avoiding the reporters waiting to hear from him. This is the first time we have seen him in days. He spent much of the past week huddled with his top campaign advisers after that disastrous loss to Ted Cruz in Wisconsin. That virtually ensures Donald Trump won't have a clear-cut convention victory. Today, Cruz is in friendly territory. God bless the great state of Colorado. Reporter: Many of Colorado's 37 delegates chosen today at the state party convention. Go Cruz! Reporter: The process, a political version of speed dating. 600 wannabe delegates have ten seconds each to make their case. Cruz is poised to win most if not all of them. Overnight, trump tweeted bitterly, isn't it is a shame that the person who will have by far the most delegates and many millions more votes than anyone else, may still must fight. It seems Cruz is outmaneuvering trump here, is that fair to say? Outmaneuver -- I would really say it's the gop outmaneuvering trump. Reporter: With a contested convention now very likely the republicans are now looking to the long game, trying to build relationships with delegates who can swing the nomination.
