And we begin with breaking news on that attack at the airport in New Orleans. We just learned that the suspect has died but so many questions remain. The attack began when Richard white approached a security checkpoint attacking with a toxic spray and machete. Inside the tsa agent that he injured on the right, the suspect shot by a police officer, he's there on the ground. ABC's kendis Gibson at the airport tonight. Run this way! Reporter: Chaos at the New Orleans airport. Tonight, authorities say it could have been a lot worse. Sometimes you'd rather be lucky than good. I think were both last night. Reporter: Just after 8:00 P.M. Friday, 62-year-old Richard white rushing through a checkpoint, at first attacking tsa agents with a bug spray. I was yelling at everyone to clear the checkpoint. Reporter: Then chasing tsa officer Carol Richel with a machete, the 14 inch blade, nearly striking her. This man was swinging very hard, very hard with that machete. If he would've made contact with anyone it would've been terrible. Reporter: And tonight officials now saying white was armed with a lot more including molotov cocktails found inside a bag he dropped at security. Six half-pint mason jars with cloth wicks into a liquid that we now know to be gasoline. Reporter: The attacker finally taken down by three shots from a law enforcement officer. Tonight, white has died from those injuries. It was chaos, it really was. People running in all directions, people were scared. Reporter: Richel injured by the gunfire. As they were taking me out on the gurney, the lobby broke out into applause and it was very up lifting. Reporter: Tonight officials say white had mental health issues.
