God today for their bravery and service and sacrifice to defend our country and had a chance to sit down with retired US Marine Corps sergeant. Kirstie and it's to find out what veterans day mean to her pick him up. Like so many women in many US service US Marine Corps Sargent Christie Kenneth Lovett challenging when she was 21. She was on a resupply mission when a helicopter she would then went nose up being crass Kirstie suffered extensive injuries to her face. It had her left leg amputated at the result. In the seven years since the accident. Kirstie if Concord new challenges that an athlete onto put newer in philanthropy think Kirstie thank you for joining us he talked about it. That was the defining moment of my life suffered some pretty severe injuries and then of course just. Being able to rebuild my life and finding picking a sense of purpose. Was the most challenging parts of of all that time definitely flipped my world around buds and thankful that I happen to me and no one else and how did you overcome everything that you've been up against you know I get. Told I'm strong but the reality is I'm not someone I pulled strength from. Just the amazing people that supported me throughout my recovery you know I was introduced emerging that some players Anderson an amazing organization. Out of LA. And really like they provided me with that community and that you let me brotherhood but I felt that I lost my Marine Corps to what do you want. People did an about veterans and set of just saying thanks give them an opportunity know whether it's a career or an education that's the way to say thank you. Then you have been paying it forward I tell you didn't what is your next goal. Well the next fun and saw actually tackling. The fifth of my seven summits inside anonymity. Can sometimes just to raise money and and raising rents for things I'm passionate about a ton of veteran organizations out there I'm really just working my tail off to be able to support I just wanted to thank you for your service to thank you for. I certainly did all of very significant very happy that it would fit.
