Transcript for Joe Biden concerned about family on campaign trail
Welcome back. So, former vice president Joe Biden is reportedly closer to deciding whether or not he'll run for president. Someone just goes, yes! We kind of like Joe a here. But -- See, everyone loves him. We do. The three of us barely agree on anything and the three of us like Joe Biden. He's concerned about exposing trump's family to trash talk on the campaign trail. I was talking about don corleone the other day. He never went after a family member. This guy goes after everybody. Yo and Meghan have both been through this type of thing. Do you think he's worried -- correct to be worried about this or not? Well, he's already been through it so I think he knows how hard it is. Your comment of that should never happen, you shouldn't comment on kids, this is a different time. You were running with your dad -- like you did a blog. When my dad ran Twitter started. So we're in totally different times. Did people go after either one of you when your fathers were running for president? I thought families were off limits. No. Even my little sister was in an attack ad. Your little sister was a little kid. You guys were both in your 20s. Joe's kids are, you know, 30, 40. He's got a daughter, a son. They are -- He has grandchildren. Exactly. Joe has been through this over and over again. I know, but his grandchildren haven't. All I know is I'm not getti any younger and neither is he. He needs to make a decision. Here's the bigger part of this whole thing. My dad, by the way, is not running for president, no desire to, but if we were to come te in a hypothetical situation and say I'm running this time, I would say absolutely not because you're running against president trump. It is a very different opponent. That's true. That is what, I think, Joe Biden is referring to. President trump is a bully on Twitter. He calls people names. He does go after family members. He went after Ted Cruz's wife for her looks. I'd say bring it on. Come on. You know what I mean? I think you're the same way. I think it's interesting about kamala, not to jump to our other topic but kamala's own father is criticizing her publicly because her -- she spoke about smoking marijuana on a radio show called "The breakfast club" and her father came out and said you're like basically exacerbating stereotypes about being from Jamaica. So I think that sometimes your own family can be attacking you too, which by the way, I said this in the meeting earlier, could we please not Meghan Markle kamala? Also one of her ex-boyfriends came out writing an ar about her. Just let everyone with the candidates that they are. Everyone has messy families, myself included. It's about the candidate and the person and short of you having a family of ISIS members, I don't really care. I care more about what you're going to do for the country. Joe Biden is a weird topic for me because I love him so much. As a person we have great political differences but he is a man of character and integrity. People love him. People do. So I will get very uncomfortable on this show if he announces because I mean this sincerely, I'm just going to have to make it strictly about policy because he's one most special Americans that we have in every way. I will be shaking pompoms. Without any problem. Since you brought up kamala, let's talk about it for a minute because kamala Harris was on a radio show as Meghan just said. They said, did ever smoke pot and she said, hey, I'm Jamaican, of course, and I inhaled by the way, doing a callback to Clinton saying I didn't inhale. Her father who is a professor at Stanford universupset. He said it looked bad for the jamaicasens basically. Then the father, when politico wanted to interview him, no, I don't want any attention on myself. Then why did you open your mouth? I know. Why not pick up the phone and call his daughter and say, you know what, babe, I don't like the type of stereotypical thing you just said. By the way, she said it in jest. This is a woman who actually has a sense of humor and laughs easily. It's self-deprecating. We need somebody who can laugh in the white house. How about just being proud of the fact that you raised a daughter who is right now the front-runner for presidency of the United States. He probably is. You're so right. I remember -- What he said was, he said my dear departed grandmothers, as well as my deceased parents must be turning in their grave right now to see their family's name, reputation -- She's not exactly snoop Dogg. She was talking about how she smoked pot once in college. It's not that big of a deal. He said that proud Jamaican identity being connected in any way, jokingly or not, with the fraudulent stereotype of a pot smoking joy seeker and in pursuit of identity politics. What does that mean? I don't get what that part meant about identity politics. If you smoked pot north. It's not just social media and the media jumping on you if you're running for president. I remember my dad was running for governor and we drove by my uncle's house and he had the opponent sign in his lawn. His what? In his lawn. That's not how my family rolls. We're ride or die, man. You have to do black history month. Sorry, yes. It is black history month, as we
