Transcript for Rockets hit military airbase with US troops in Iraq
encouraging news coming up. First to that breaking news overnight, at least ten rockets blasting an Iraqi air base housing U.S. Soldiers so let's go to Ian Pannell in mosul for good morning. Reporter: Good morning, robin. That's right. American forces in Iraq came under rocket attack again this morning. The spokesman for U.S. Forces say initial reports say ten rockets sergeanted the Al Asad air base and Iraqi commander telling ABC news that the rockets were fired by pro-iranian militia groups including this one called Khatib Hezbollah. If so it's the same one blamed for a similar rocket attack on another U.S. Air base here in the north of the country. Now, in response to that you remember president Biden ordered an air strike against that militia with a warning to Iran that it should expect consequences for its support of these groups. Now, U.S. Forces were already on high alert but this latest incident is no doubt going to put further pressure I think on the administration to respond perhaps forcefully to this threat from Iran that's here in Iraq. Robin. All right. Ian, thank you. We'll keep everybody updated.
