A young father is lucky to be alive this morning. Recovering from a freak accident, and now we're hearing what was going through his mind as he called 911. All the time thinking of his family. ABC's Trevor Ault has more. Jake. Jake, tell me exactly what happened. I got a pole through my chest. Just hurry. A deer ran out in front of me. I swerved. Reporter: This morning, the desperate 911 calls of a Texas father clinging to life. A horrific crash leaving Jake tabor pinned in his truck. A fence post impaling his chest, narrowly missing his heart. I can't do nothing. I'm pinned. I know. Don't move, okay? Reporter: With first responders rushing to the scene, Jake also called his father, warning him he might not survive. He wanted to tell us he loved us and he wanted his girls to know that he loved them very much. I need to call my wife. No, stay on the line with me. Help's on the way. I need to call my wife and tell her I love her. Reporter: The dispatcher begging the father of two small girls to stay still and not hang up when help finally arrives. They're here. Don't move, Jake. Save me! Save me, please. I have a baby. Reporter: With the post still stuck through his body, firefighters had to cut apart pieces of the fence before rushing Jake to the hospital. His family already grieving the loss of Jake's brother just months prior. It's a miracle. A half inch in any direction and we wouldn't be doing this interview. We would be standing at another grave site, putting another one of my sons in our past. Well, Jake's family says he has made some progress in the hospital, but this is going to be a months' long recovery. Right now he can't speak because of breathing tubes, but he is asking in written messages how his daughters are holding up. This is truly extraordinary. Incredible story. Thank you, Trevor. Appreciate it.
