come F ?????? Apparently the TV show "Instinct" has already been renewed for a second season. It stars the brilliant Alan Cumming and it's based on James Patterson's best-selling book, and it has an incredible silent supporting cast. Are you in it? I might be. Take a look. Joan? Oh, see you. I got to talk to you. Celia Baxter called me. I did sing your praises. She wants me to edit her next boog. We're meeting for lunch on Friday. That's nice. Not nice at all. It's a miracle considering my history with her. I passed on her first book. I cannot rep you. I hate the beginning, I hate the middle and I hate the end. I need to tell you, this title, you hate it too. It's boring, Celia. I know how harsh you can be. I wasn't harsh. I was honest, and who knew she would become an airport best-selling? Clearly not you. Please welcome my friend, the amazing Alan Cumming. ?????? That's funny. It was funny. So funny. A future in business, whoopi Goldberg. I like the hair-dos. That one was very cute. Very cute. Do it. So, like, I just recently learned that you apparently like to Google naked pictures of your co-stars before you work with them? What's up with that? It's so weird I said that, you know, in a talk show because I was doing this film, and I was going to have sex with them in the film, and I thought, oh, you know, I knew he had been in a film naked before. I'll look and see what I'm going to get, and what's out there as well. Sometimes I do, yeah. You didn't find anything of me. I was acting a little bit. It was a search. If you put someone's name in, and just go, naked. Images. Really? I have never done that. I will now. Literally just got off the couch and walked over. Different people's bodies on famous people, and they do that. That's hilarious as well. You actually met whoopi before you worked together on this. You guys were friends. Way back. Can you remember the first time your paths crossed? I might have heard a story. I was doing Broadway the first time in 1998, and it was -- there's me. And it's, like, it was this time, when everybody was saying, your life is going to change, and I was, like, what? I never worked in New York on my own, and I felt a bit overwhelmed and I had a great time, and I would go into the shower and have a cry to myself to release the tension cry. And one night, whoopi came to see it, and I was in the shower, and I could hear her go, where is he? I want to him. Where is he? She was banging on the shower door, and I was in the shower crying. You were naked also. I was naked there Boundaries, whoopi. All right. Alan, this actually really surprised me, but on "Instinct," you are the first openly gay lead character on a drama. That's the first time on a drama in America they have had a gay lead character ever. That surprised me. The gay lead character is not the focus of the show though, like -- He is, because he is the lead, but -- That's what I meant. It's a big step forward in that usually when gay people or lgbtq people of any sort, their sexuality is normally the focus of the story line, and they are fighting something or they are sick, and to have a character that's in a very strong supportive, same-sex relationship, and that's not really mentioned that often. I think that's great in how we should deal with people who are different to us, and always actually. That's true. I can tell from your accent that you are an immigrant. I am. And I like the accent very much. It's cute. I was reading that you said the word immigrant has a negative connotation these times. Why do you say that? Well, because of this president, and the rhetoric that he is exposing and, you know, I became a citizen ten years ago, and I got this show called "Illegal immigrant", and we talk about it all the time. I hear about these people coming -- and these people are coming to take, you know, and there is constant rhetoric about negativity about people who are different than others and it's just racism by another word, and that's what I find -- An idea that -- the idea that he exposes these views about immigration in such a negative way, and his wife is an immigrant. I know. She became a citizen two years before me. His mother was Scottish, I'm sad to say. His wives. All his wives. Immigrants. He is the son of an immigrant, and yet he has this terrible way of talking so negatively, and it's infusing itself in the way of the country, and it's causing rise of attacks. He doesn't say it about all immigrants. He likes Norwegians, and Scottish. It's skin tone he has a problem with. Do you think? It's this country in general that is anti-immigrant and they say I'm not an immigrant. I'm a settler or something ridiculous. Unless you're a native-american or African-American, because I don't think being brought here in chains was a choice, you're an immigrant. We have such a diverse and rich country, and it's been made that, why don't we celebrate that, instead of denigrate it? Hopefully, we will, and let's celebrate your movie, "Show dogs." It looks right up our alley. Tell us about it. It's this film about "Show dogs." I'm theyorkie. I know. It's ridiculous. Don't you think I look like an evil Jennifer aniston? When I was -- I did an episode because I wasn't, you know, there. I did my voice in the studio, and I did an episode of "Doctor who" recently, and she said, for that look, they had to give it extensions. They had to give a yorkshire terrier extensions. Show biz. You are welcome here any time as you know. I'm having a blast. Come co-host one day. That would be such fun. "Instinct" airs Sunday nights. Check your local listings, and "Show dogs" is in theaters right
