Transcript for Animal sanctuary founder injured by 2 bengal tigers she raised
We turn now to the frightening tiger attack in California. A wildlife conservationist who raised two tigers suddenly attacked by them. Here's Kaylee Hartung. Reporter: She's done it hundreds of times before. Patty Perry goes into the tiger cage at the animal sanctuary she founded, but this time, their playful routine took a terrifying turn. A lot of people, I'm sure, that saw it, were horrified, thinking the worst. Medic 444, battalion 20, respond to an animal fight. Reporter: With 30 supporters of the wildlife and environmental conservation in southern California watching, two bengal tigers pounced on the woman who's raised them. They began to play with her and the bengal took both paws and wrapped them around her legs. And she fell down, another one jumped on her and began to pull on her before they got her out. Reporter: Perry sustained lacerations and puncture wounds, non-life threatening injuries. She said it was obvious they were playing with her because they do love her. Reporter: Experts say no matter how familiar one is with these large predators, there's always a safety risk. To put yourself within the same space of any animal this size and power, is never a good idea. Reporter: Tonight, Perry's been released from the hospital. She's home recovering and plans to be back here caring for her tigers as soon as she's able. Glad she's okay. Kaylee, thank you.
