Transcript for President Trump's niece to release tell-all book
Turning now to Washington and that stunning report that president trump's niece is coming out with a tell all book about her family and revealing she has been a key anonymous source for reporters looking into the president's finances. Senior white house correspondent Cecilia Vega has more on this story, good morning, Cecilia. Reporter: Hey, Amy, good morning. This was one of the biggest mysteries involving the trump administration. Who leaked this trove of documents to "The New York Times" back in 2018 somewhat raised such serious questions about the president's finances. Well, "The daily beast" is claiming that source, as you said, was the president's own niece, Mary trump. This is the daughter of his deceased brother Fred Jr. And she is now planning to publish a tell all book this summer. Mary trump, she is largely kept out of the public eye but she has been involved in a bitter family court battle over her grandfather's will. And as you said she was reportedly behind that trove of documents in "The times" that alleged fraud and the family finances and contradicted the president's claim that his father had only leapt him a small loan to jump-start his company when it was actually the equivalent of hundreds of millions of dollars. But, Amy, this book is set to come out in August, that will be just weeks before the Republican con skrengs. All right, and, Cecilia, president trump announcing he is pushing back that campaign rally originally scheduled for juneteenth this Friday. What is behind the turnaround here. Reporter: This was the president's first rally, it will be the first rally since the pandemic set to take place in Tulsa. Initially planned for juneteenth, the day that commemorates the end of slavery. After much backlash they rescheduled for Saturday but now Tulsa's health director says he wishes the president would postpone altogether. Covid infections are on the rise in Tulsa. While the campaign says there will be safety precautions in place, they haven't said what those are and, Amy, now attendees are being asked to not hold the campaign responsible if they contract covid at this All right, Cecilia Vega, we appreciate it. Thank you.
