Transcript for Nick Viall is the Next Star of 'The Bachelor'
We're back with that bachelor bombshell. Bachelor nation has a new leading man, nick Viall and host Chris Harrison is join us live in just a moment but first ABC's Abbie Boudreau has a closer look at the man trying to win America's heart. For nick Viall the third time wasn't the charm but maybe the fourth will be. Please give it up for your new bachelor, come on out. Reporter: This morning bachelor nation waking up to this shocking twist of fate. I'm very excited. I'm more nervous. It hasn't worked out so far and hopefully this time around maybe things will end up on a more positive note. Reporter: Many fans stunned thinking front-runner heartthrobs Luke or chase from jojo's season would be crowned the next leading man. What did you think because he hasn't always been everyone's fan favorite. Well, yeah, but watching "Bachelor in paradise" this summer I found myself rooting for him whereas I would make fun of him mercilessly. Reporter: He is no stranger to the show or controversy. First finding love on and Dorfman's season of "The bachelorette." I love you, and. Only to be sent home heartbroken. Reporter: And bitter. If you weren't in love with me, I'm just not sure why you made love with me. I don't -- Then falling hard for Kaitlyn Bristow. I am in love with you. No? Reporter: But falling short yet again. I'm in shock right now. Reporter: Even following his heart to paradise. Anything for true love. There's a big part of me that didn't think I'd be back. Here I am and just kind of excited to see who else is coming. Reporter: So you fell in love on the show. Yep. What is your advice to nick. My advice to nick is that falling in love is the easy part. It's committing to that woman after the show that can be challenging at times. Reporter: But one thing is certain. Next season just might be the most dramatic in bachelor history. For "Good morning America," Abbie Boudreau, ABC news, los Angeles. Even more dramatic? Joining us now from Las Vegas Chris Harrison. Talk about nick. Why nick. Weeks of speculation about who it could be. People thought Luke, chase. Why did you guys go with nick? You know what, ultimately at the end of the day when we were cussing all of the candidates and Luke and chase were on the board it just got down to that final question of, who is the most rving, you know, who is the most sincere? Who have we watched time and time again, you know, really come on the show to find love and come up short each and every time and while, you know, Luke and chase were good guys we all kept coming back to nick and it's just crazy enough to work and I think Abbie just stole my line. It might be the most dramatic season ever. Three times he appeared on the show and you believe he is looking for Mrs. Right. I do. I mean, look, the good news is it's worked for him. He has fallen in love on this show and he has sin leerily tried to make it work. He's just come up short each I'm luv but he's done his part and will give his part to the possess. This wasn't an indictment on Luke or chase as much as it was more of a compliment to nick and that he is that sincere guy that really does want to make this work. It's so interesting. Obviously he is always had to deal with the choices of the women. Now, he is going to be in control. How do you think he's going to handle that? Yeah, I'm sure he's relieved waking up this morning knowing that josh Murray will not be there beside him to compete for the woman. He's free and clear now. But I think, you know, being the guy and then having 25 or 30 depending on I don't know how many women we'll have for "The bachelor" this year but being the guy will definitely help because he is sincere. He will be there and then to have that many women there just to find love. Doesn't guarantee it's going to work. Things can happen on "The bachelor" but it definitely helps his odds. They always do, Chris. I have to laugh, people are so -- some people are excited. Some people are outraged at your choice. Are you surprised by the backlash from who you choose? No, because, look, it just shows how much people love and care about this show and I am very flattered and honored but, yeah, when you look at social media and it is either the worst decision in the history of mankind or the greatest decision, that's a broad spectrum. You just know people's heart are in this and care about the show. I love and respect that. But you cannot please everybody all the time. You just can't. If you try to please everybody you please nobody in this business and at the end of the day as producers we've gone a good job for year, trust us, go on this journey. I think you'll be happy. We will, indeed. You know millions will be watching. Thank you very much. You can see the season finale of "Bachelor in paradise" on Monday and Tuesday night at 8:00, 7:00 central right here on ABC.
